I leave work at 16.10 and will get home at 18.10. Walk or bus to the tube station, tube to the train station, train home, bus to nearby then 10 minute walk home. I do drive, usually to the train station, but no parking at present so am bussing. Not nice!

I will leave here at 5pm and get home at 6pm that’s via my own car.

In the mornings I leave at 7:20am and get to work for 9:10am.

Hmmmm see it would take me over an hour if I had to ride the bus to work…gee…but driving its like 8 mins =]
I would love to have a walking distance job…I would get my daily exercise!!

Depends where I’m coming from!

It’s 27 miles each way to work from my home.
It takes me 27 minutes each way.
The speed limit is 70 MPH and there’s one redlight and one stop sign each way.
If a car or truck is going slower than a vehicle coming up from behind, they move over onto the shoulder to let you pass. The Texas Farm to Market roads are very wide two-laned highways with 60-80 mph speed limits.

I think I would go berserk if I had to commute like ya’all every day for a living. Traffic, trains, and people traveling like a herd of cattle does not thrill me AT ALL.

I did work in Downtown D.C. for a week and had to take the Metro. It was an enlightening experience. Everybody was in a hurry, in a bad mood or not very friendly. Nobody made eye contact or small talk. I felt out of place to say the least.

Sitting in traffic would drive me c R a Z y! I’d have to ride a dual sport motorcycle and go through and around traffic if I lived in a crowded commute.

Green acres is the place to be.

Takes me 20 mins by car there and back…it would take from 40-60 mins to get there by public transport, but there are only a few buses there and back. I used to travel almost 2 hours to work (there and back) and think that we have so little time to ourselves to live, that time spent travelling is such as waste of time – what price do you put on that????

By car, 15-25 minutes. By Public transport, over an hour, & it costs more on the 2 buses I’d need than it costs in petrol. So I choose to avoid the riff-raff & sit in air conditioned comfort, listening to my own tunes, safe in the knowledge that I don’t have to put up with druggies, squawking brats, & all the other miserable looking people you seem to see on buses.

I leave work at 4pm. A 20 minute walk to the Bus Stop. An hour (minimum of the bus). Then another 20 minute walk from the Bus Stop to Home. If I’m lucky I should be home by 6pm.

I have no choice (if I want to work) to travel by bus.

17-22 minutes driving my own car, not possible to take public transport as I am in the burbs and commute to a very small city. I used to take public transport into the big city and it was about 55 minutes door to door in a vanpool (caravan for commuters). When construction started on a major road “improvement”, that went to 90 minutes each way. I changed jobs shortly after.

Note: why does it seem like government officials are wholly unconcerned with the time wasted in traffic? By not having adequate roads, workers are losing time they could be working (improving the economy) or being with family (getting more utility out of life). Instead, they are stressed & unproductive and the cars spew more pollutants into the air by being on the road far longer than necessary to get from A to B.

PS-the “improvement” is not much of an improvement, and traffic still takes close to 90 minutes to travel what used to take 55.
